YOUR ESTIMATED TAKE-HOME

Where your pay goes

Annual gross, broken down.

2026 tax

Your pay, item by item

A full-year estimate at the selected pay level. Payslip withholding can differ because of FSS adjustments, payment timing and rounding.

AFTER YOUR MONTHLY SPENDING

Quick spending estimate. Build a detailed plan in Budget.

02 / MAKE IT YOURS

Your monthly plan

Edit categories and enter monthly totals. Savings transfers count as allocations, not spending.

03 / SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Small steps. Real goals.

Turn your monthly allocations into savings or investing goals. Explore how time and returns could change your future balance.

A monthly plan, not a bank balance. Recorded amounts are entered by you; there is no bank connection. “Plan-adjusted buffer” reserves every category’s unspent plan and includes any overspending. There is no automatic balance rollover. Goal balances are snapshots for each month; copying a plan clears spending and transfers but keeps goal balances for you to review. Budget data saves on this browser and is included in your JSON backup.

Find the rules behind your pay.

Search by employer, staff group or year. Loaded presets, current-period references and historical documents have distinct coverage.

Agreement collection

A document’s stated end date is not proof that all its provisions ceased. Extensions, side agreements and replacements may apply. Historical amounts are never automatically used as current pay. The calculator uses 2026 tax and NI; it does not calculate historical tax.

How the estimate works

One full year at the selected salary

Basic salary comes from a Public Service, ERA or ERL grade, a supported UM 2026 vacancy preset, your contract or your own grade table. Reduced hours apply against the full-time week you enter. Enter basic pay separately from allowances; an advertised all-inclusive package is not a basic salary. This is a steady-state estimate; it does not calculate appointment-date arrears, mid-year increments, unpaid leave or prior earnings.

Progressive resident tax

Tax applies to annual taxable earnings after approved deductions. Each slice is charged at 0%, 15%, 25% or 35%. NI is not subtracted from taxable income. Credits reduce tax only to zero. General refunds and pension tax credits are not assumed automatically.

Weekly National Insurance

Class 1 employee NI normally uses basic salary ÷ 52. ERL published-grade mode uses the contractual weekly basic (annual × 7 ÷ 365). Ordinary allowances, bonuses and overtime are excluded; confirm any ERL basic-plus shift component with payroll. The weekly contribution is rounded to cents before multiplying by your selected 52 or 53 contribution weeks. Employer contributions and the maternity fund are excluded from your deductions.

Flexible payment plans

Choose 12 monthly, 13 four-weekly, 26 fortnightly or 52 weekly planning payments. Annual NI is allocated evenly for budgeting; actual monthly contribution weeks can vary. The 4-week headline is annual take-home ÷ 13, including bonuses. The monthly headline is annual take-home ÷ 12. “Regular pay” removes lump sums and recomputes annual tax for that comparison; it is not a forecast of a specific payslip.

Forecast assumptions stay visible

2027–2030 salary steps are the agreement’s published schedule, subject to any later COLA adjustments. All tax and NI estimates use the verified 2026 rules. Changing the salary year does not imply that future tax rules have been verified. Linked qualification and 2027 cash rates follow the selected year. Manually edited amounts stay fixed.

Allowances are configurable

Each employer and agreement has separate entitlements. ICT class allowance depends on grade within the Public Service. Performance awards require assessment. Senior allowances require a senior-grade appointment. The overtime calculator converts approved hours to pay. Ordinary tax is the default; the optional 15% treatment applies only within its eligibility and income limits. Qualifying payments and tax exemptions must be checked against your own payroll arrangements.

Your data & preferences

The current inputs save automatically on this browser and website address. Saved scenarios are snapshots; they can be renamed and updated. Undo/redo keeps the last 20 changes in this tab until reload. There is no account, server database or cross-device sync.

Private browsing, clearing site data or changing domains can remove or separate your saved data. A JSON backup contains your salary inputs and budgets; keep it somewhere private.

Saved scenarios are kept.

Built to host anywhere. Upload index.html into your Hostinger web folder. Everything needed is in that file. No API keys, CDN, build step or backend required.

What changed from the workbook?

NI uses the 2026 cap and defaults to 52 contribution weeks (53 is selectable), avoiding the workbook’s monthly/four-week mismatch. Bonuses use the progressive annual tax result instead of a fixed 25% assumption. Default qualification pay is off until you choose an approved entitlement; the workbook’s €300 value remains available.

Add a salary step

Enter a full-time annual basic salary, excluding allowances. This is your own unverified table for the current employer.

Save this scenario

Keep a snapshot of the current salary, allowances and tax settings.

Import a backup

The backup’s current inputs will become active. Conflicting salary snapshots are kept as separate copies. Existing budget months win when dates overlap. Uncheck to replace both scenarios and budget months. Older backups without budgets keep your existing budget. You can undo the import.
